
Rev. Jim Winters
Minister of Music
Jim Winters was born in Ft. Worth, Texas and has been in
the ministry for over 37 years.
In the fall of 1967, he began studying for full time
Christian service at the Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington, Texas, and graduated with a
Bachelor of Sacred Music degree in May of 1971. He has also taken several graduate
courses at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Brother Winters has been involved with several ministries
throughout his life. From 1971 to 1979, he was at the Calvary Baptist Church in
Wayne, Michigan. From there, he went to Worth Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, Texas
until 1987. In July 1987, Brother Winters accepted the position of Minister of Music
at Grace Baptist Church and has been here since.
Brother Winters' primary ministry is to oversee all the
music at Grace. This entails everything from leading the congregational singing, to
directing the choir, orchestra, and special ensembles, planning special music at all the
services and conferences, and securing our church's instrumentalists. Maintaining
the overall appearance in the auditorium, operating of sound system, and coordinating the
video and cassette ministries all come under the Minister of Music's responsibilities.
He also has been privileged to be director of the Jolly 60's since the Fall of 1989. He teaches
the Harvesters Class on Sunday mornings and does visitation throughout the week.
Brother Winters also oversees the in-house printing, the church's advertising, and the
employee medical insurance.
Brother Winters is married to the former Sharon Kaye Fields
of Brunswick, Ohio. They have three wonderful children,Twana, Damon, and Tonya, all
married, with 12 beautiful grandchildren.
